How much does it cost for City of Idaho Falls fiber?

When you sign up for Idaho Falls City fiber, you will receive two bills, one from the City of Idaho Falls and one from QWK.net.

The City of Idaho Falls will add a line item to your utility bill for $30 that will be billed monthly for the build-out and maintenance fee services.  You will also receive a bill from QWK.net to receive the Internet speeds you desire that start at $37 per month. The crazy fast speed selected will determine the cost. There is no current set-up fee for Internet services.

Is there a lien put on my house with the Fiber build-out?

No, the City of Idaho Falls is systematically building fiber through residential neighborhoods.

Do I need special hardware or other equipment?

When the City of Idaho Falls fiber is built to your residence, they will install special fiber equipment at a location referred to as the demarcation location or “dmark.”  At that point, you will need to purchase a router that will support the speeds of fiber optics. Where is the fiber installed in my house?

The City of Idaho Falls installers will follow the power line to your house and install a fiber optic box within your home, typically in the garage area. They will then run an Ethernet line to a place of your choosing within your home. The line can then be plugged into your network or wireless router.

Do you offer phone service?

Yes, we offer phone service! The cost is $12 per month plus taxes. The set-up is $95 which includes on-site installation, a small converter devise, and the number assignment or reassignment.

How long does it take to set-up?

This varies greatly.  The build out of the City of Idaho Falls fiber optic network to your neighborhood will be determined by the results of the pilot program.   Neighborhoods currently being connected to the City of Idaho Falls fiber optic network will be offered the service first. As the City of Idaho Falls fiber optic pilot program progresses, more neighborhoods will be added to the network.
